Andrea Grimsley

"My journey began at Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati, OH. specializing in Illustration and Graphic design. In 1979 I moved to Northern California freelancing in the Sign and display industry as a Lettering Artist, Graphic Designer, and Muralist. Inspired by Abstract expressionism, and a passion for color, my fine art is influenced by Fauvism and Abstract Expressionism. Working in the design industry with consultants and designers expanded my horizons and working methods to include a variety of styles and mediums. I returned to the Midwest in 2001, and began a new body of work inspired by the local landscape. A lifelong desire was fulfilled in 2005 when I was commissioned to create a 911 memorial in bronze for Peekskill, NY. I have worked with the Verdin Company, in Cincinnati, OH on the design and execution of several public art installations. Teaching opportunities also came my way, and I have had the privilege of working with grades K-12 as an Artist in Residence in rural Indiana for the last ten years. I reside in Aurora, IN and am married to musician and guitar maker Jamonn Zeiler."
